Dr. (Col.) Hardev Singh Bhatyal is a globally renowned Urologist and expert in Renal Transplantation with an illustrious career spanning over three decades. He has been instrumental in establishing multiple kidney transplant centers across India and internationally, including the Muhimbili National Hospital in Tanzania, where he performed the first 14 successful kidney transplants in the country.
A pioneer in Urology, Dr. Bhatyal played a key role in founding the modern Urology and Renal Transplant Department at the Army Hospital (R&R) Delhi and performed the first successful Kidney Transplant for the Armed Forces in India.
His expertise extends to Laparoscopic Urology, Reconstructive Urology (especially stricture urethra), and Robotic Urological Surgeries, including Robotic Radical Prostatectomy, Robotic Radical Cystectomy, Robotic Pyeloplasty and Robotic Nephrectomy.
Dr. Bhatyal’s innovative contributions to the field have been widely recognized. He received the Innovations in Urology Award from the Urological Society of India in 2001 and 2014, with one of his achievements listed in the Limca Book of Records.
As a respected figure in the medical community, he has served as the President of NZUSI (North Zone Chapter of the Urological Society of India) and a Council Member of the Urological Society of India (USI).
